When I saw this Ikea Vittsjo hack on Ana Antunes blog I was smitten. The high end look she achieved on the shelving unit was genius and then to top it off she is Portuguese! Which made me even more an awe since I am half Portugese.
It seems to be the new Ikea hack lately. You can’t beat the price, $70. I love that you can really transform the metal and glass unit to fit your own decorating style. Kate from Centsational Girl did hers in white and replaced the glass with wood
For Chic Sake did a single shelving unit in gold but replaced the bottom shelf with a mirror insert. Smart, wish I would of thought of that.
So when I needed something to flank the two sides of my new credenza out at our river house, guess what I did? Yep went and got me two of the Ikea Vittso shelving units and sprayed them gold. I used the single shelving units which are $40 each
I haven’t finished styling them yet but I love how they turned out. I assembled them first and then sprayed them with Design Masters Brillant Gold
I didn’t bring my good camera with me so here is another iPhone blurry picture
And because we all love a good before and after, here is what this area used to look like {I finally got the tv hung, which made a world of difference}
The country look is now gone and the more modern look brought in
So if you are in the need of some shelving, I would highly recommend using the Vittsjo shelving units, they are easy to transform and easy on your budget.

Wow, fabulous!!! What a chic TV space, those Vittsjos are beautiful in gold and that console is TDF, gorgeous!!!! Thanks for the mention!

Thanks Kate!
I wish I would of remembered my DSLR camera this trip so I could of gotten better pictures of the whole set up! Getting out the door this time was hectic since my daughter and 13 month old grandson rode with me. I was limited on time to get out of the house in order to coordinate his nap time with the car ride
Oh well.
That credenza is my favorite! I got it professionally lacquered in Orange County, worth every penny I spent
I love how yours turned out Stephanie! Looks so good!
Lots of stuff going on in my head right now. First, the before. . . I’ve seen that piece!
So happy that I actually got to meet Cindy.
second…you know I’m not a fan of gold, but the shelves look great next to your lacquered piece!!!
I see that you took your pictures while you were lazing around watching football!
You did a great job stephanie, and you can’t beat that price. I’ve only been to Ikea twice.
have a great day!

I love how you hacked them! And they look amazing flanking that bright blue credenza!
Thanks Ashley! The blue credenza is my FAVORITE piece of furniture I have transformed so far.
Beautiful! I love, love the transformation! Love that blue credenza too
.
Looks Great!
Thanks Cindy! I can’t wait to put the finishing touches on it.
I’ve seen those ikea hacks on blogland and fell in love with them! Love the way yours came out too and of course your credenza is to die for
Thanks Mandy! These shelving units were so easy to paint, I hope I get a chance to do more of them, they are so versatile.
oh my gosh – i LOVE those shelves. i’m so glad you posted this – what a great high end look for very little!!! thank you muchly
I am more than happy to help Kristi! I was going to wait to style the shelves before I posted them, but I couldn’t help myself! They are so affordable and can easily be made to fit any design style. I see an Ikea shopping trip in your future
TV space……love he shelves, love the idia next to the TV cabinet, the use off space but I do not like the color of blue at all.Somehow bothers my eyes.I think shinie black or gold ( painted red undertone and lightly sanded ) would look much better.Yhe blue just jumps out to much.Sorry…
