I have been slowly organizing my closet. It all started with Pinterest and people pinning glamourous closets like these
To die for pink pendants light fixtures right?
The tufted seats…gonna do this for sure!
Oh the shoe space is to die for and that chandelier? Be still my heart
Seeing all these Pinterest images made me realize three things:
1. I have a dream closet but didn’t realize it’s potential until Pinterest
2 I need to organize my stuff much more efficiently to make it look pretty {like how they laid out the shoes in the last picture}
3 It was time to glam up my closet
I started my makeover back in March when I wallpapered my closet in this large damask print
But that is as far as I got. Until recently, when I saw this light fixture at a local store, Girard Avenue Collections
It was the perfect glam piece I needed for my closet, so I bought it. Unfortunately it is still sitting in the box in the closet and not hanging from the ceiling. My electrian is TOO busy right now so I have to wait, ugh!
So in the mean time I started organizing and editing my clothes, shoes, purses and jewelry. I needed to have more organization and neatness in my closet if I want to achieve that glamourous dreamy closet. No more stacking my shoes hap-hazardly and mixed matched hangers.
And in the process I found some great space saving items that I am in love with that I thought I would share with you
I guess these hangers have been out for awhile, I just didn’t pay attention to them. Boy was I an idiot. The space saving hangers are a must for ANY closet. I can fit so many more clothes in my closet now, you must get these.
It takes a little getting used to the velvet wrap on the outside. The clothes don’t slide on the hanger like a plastic hanger. It’s no biggie, just different.
These hangers save you a TON of space {which means more room for more clothes right?}. Every girl needs these. I bought mine at Costco, but you can also get them at Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, Home Goods, pretty much everywhere.
If you like boots, like I like boots, but hate how they fall over on your shelf, then these boot shapers are for you. This is an item that you don’t need them {like the space saving hangers}, but they sure do help keep the shape of the boot and look nicer sitting in your closet. My local Bed Bath & Beyond only had two in stock at their store. Here is a picture how great my boots look with the boot shapers, {which I named my boot savers}and how messy they look without
I ordered more here for the rest of my boots, I love them so much, they are $9.99 each. They also have the inflatable type for $4.99 in a variety of colors which I am sure work just as well
I love scarves but I have more scarfs than I need. I mean come on, I live in San Diego, I really don’t need a lot of scarves, but I seem to buy them as if I lived back east. I realized that they were taking up valuable space in my drawers. So either I had to scale down or find a better way to store them. I was so happy to find these scarf hangers, they were the perfect solution I needed so that I didn’t have get rid of them.
They come in a pack of two for $9.99, and I used them both. I noticed that the holes are large enough to actually hold more than one scarf. Which is a plus if you really do live in an area where you get winters and have a lot of scarves. I ended up having exactly 10 scarves…way too many for a San Diego gal don’t ya think? But now I can hang them in my closet and free up the drawer space.
The last thing I got was the expandable shoe rack from Target, $29.99. It is fairly sturdy and expands from 25″ to 46″ and you can stack them which is a plus if you are sharing a closet. Me? I just wanted to put my ugly tennis shoes out of sight inside my closet doors and it was the perfect solution. I have mine at the 25″, but I like that I can just expand the rods if I need more space
I was reading the reviews on the Target site and someone complained that they were crap and hard to put together…seriously it required no tools and took 5 minutes to put together. The metal bars make it very sturdy versus the ones with the plastic bars. I have learned that you always should read through all the reviews to get the whole story.
So there you have it. My top 4 space saving tips for your closet. Next week I will be showing you how I organized my jewelry, watches and belts in a fashionable boutique way.

Those are some great ideas! I wish I lived closer, I’d hook your light up for you…it’s fun to do.
I just put up the chandy in my daughter’s room last week.
Thanks Chris! I would install it myself but it is an add on,not a replacement. Meaning new wire has to be run to the electrical box and also to our Lutron system. Not to mention a vent and a speaker moved lol I never do things the easy way. I can’t wait to see the chandy you put up! Stephanie http://cre8tivedesignsinc.com/
Love your NEW HEADER! So you!
what a great post Stephanie! I can’t believe I knew about the hangers long before you…I use to be addicted to HSN, and bought them from Joy Mangano’s collection. They really do save a lot of room. As for the scarves and boots? I don’t wear either.
LOVING the new header! you’re cartoon person is soo darn cute!
I have a big closet, but I’m not really utilizing the space or decorating as well as I should, now I feel totally inspired!
What is wrong with us right? I am enjoying my closet so much more now that I have jazzed it up a bit. I still don’t have that fixture hung yet…that will be the true glam piece! Stephanie http://cre8tivedesignsinc.com/
My closet is so tiny =( I definitely use those thin hangers; they really help!
I love how they give you more room in your closet, no matter what size it is. My youngest daughter was against using them until she found them in grey last week. She is now a believer
