Merry little happenings

I wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas before the holiday passes. I don’t know about you, but it has really snuck up on me this year.  I also wanted to share my new favorite quote

good friends quoteIt reminds me of you guys who read my little ole blog.  I don’t have contributors or host advertising,  I know it can get rather random around here sometimes.  And that there are are bigger and better blogs to read out there, better content, better pictures etc.  But you guys are my virtual friends, and I know you are always there just like it says in the quote. I just want to say thank you all for your sweet comments and readership,  I really, really appreciate it.

The last two months have flown by and I wanted to share with you some of the happenings that have kept me busy and away from blogging.

First I went to Bend Oregon in the beginning of November for my friends daughter’s wedding.  It was the most BEAUTIFUL wedding I have ever attended.  It was a magical event, and everything was top notch.  Just breath taking.  I am sure this wedding will be in a magazine or on a wedding blog, it was that good.  The vendors were top notch, so I am sure they will be getting the press they so deserve.  It was my first time in Bend, it was so pretty.  Here are a couple of pictures from the wedding taken with my iPhone

Outdoor weddingThis whole set up was done by a phenomenal florist, {which her name escapes me, but she was from Santa Barbara}  She made those trees can you believe it?  They were real branches and she inserted each and every branch into a faux tree trunk.  Here is the bride coming down the isleChar's weddingMy youngest daughter Tiffany accompanied me on the trip.  She posed for this picture for me, stunning isn’t she?  {oh wait, I’m her mom, of course I think that!} They served hot cocoa and gave out mittens and throws while you were waiting for the wedding to start.  {it was pretty darn cold there} The bag of leaves are what we used to toss at the bride and groom instead of rice.  There were so many details in this wedding that were so well thought out.  I can’t wait to see the professional pictures and share the link with you.  It was amazing.IMG_8668Then afterThanksgiving I flew to Milwaukee to see my daughter Shannon.  It was cold there, and even snowed one day.  I loved it actually.  It was a nice change from our usual sunny days in San Diego! I think just seeing my grandsons put me in a good mood for any kind of weather.IMG_9373

IMG_9174 The town they live in is really quaint and pretty.  Nothing like what we have here in San Diego.  I really appreciated the architecture of their buildings.  IMG_9357The time just flew by when I was there.  I was really bummed out when I had to leave.  It was hard leaving these cutiesLong john christmas card

When I got back home I had do some mad dash decorating for a dinner party I was hosting for friends at my house.

Christmas table decorating with reds and plaidsI opted to make festive tags for the table card holders instead of assigning names.  Like “jolly”, “bright”, “noel” etc.  Of course using my Silhouette machine

Jolly table place cardI didn’t pull out a lot of Christmas stuff this year.  I mainly grabbed the stuff that I truly love.  I seem to be on a white reindeer kick at the moment.  And I never tire of my DIY sweater sleeves I did two years ago.  White reindeer and sweater vase sleeves

We all had such a good time.  I think the highest compliment was when they all walked in and they asked permission to take pictures of my decor.  One of my friends had the idea of crouching down behind the centerpiece to capture a picture of the buffet wall.  Red, gold and silver Christmas decorating

Haha, the joke was on us!  Can you see us in the mirrors taking the pictures?  Yeah, that didn’t work out so wellRed, gold and silver Christmas decoratingI may or may not of laid low the next day due to the festivities of the night before :)  {that’s me in the middle holding Daisy the dog}Christmas decorating-21

We just got our Christmas tree up a couple of days ago.  We put it in the living room this year out of pure laziness. I just didn’t feel like dragging it upstairs to the family room. The tree is little in the room, but oh well, it’s up right? I even did a little video of the entryway and the tree for you.  It’s not that good, I did it on my iPhone. It’s  kind of fun video {that has poor lighting and the song is out of whack lol} but it shows a little bit of my house that I never really show here. I need more practice.  Christmas {I am crossing my fingers you can view it, it is the first time I have uploaded a video so sorry in advance if it doesn’t work. }

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.  I hope that you have a wonderful and joyous holiday.
