4th of July

I know that the 4th of July is long gone, but I like to post pictures of our festivities for selfish reasons even if it is a little late.  Last year I lost all my pictures when my hard drive crashed {with no back up} and the only pictures I had were the ones on my blog.  So just in case that was to happen again, {although I now have an external backup} I wanted to post pictures before I forgot.

I was pretty excited this year to decorate for the 4th of July.  Why?  Because I got to use the tabletop canopy I made for my husbands party again.  Seriously, I know that sounds lame, but honestly, it’s the truth.

I used the tabletop canopy for the food table.  It was a hot day and it was nice to have the shade from the canopy over the table.

I re-used my utensil holders that I made last year.  {The polka dot plates are from OKL a year ago}

I went with my standard mason jar wrapped with ribbon and some store bought flowers for table decorations {to get blue water, you add a few or so drops of blue food coloring to the water}

I got the red checkered tablecloths last year off of amazon.  They were pretty inexpensive, and I just love the festive look it gives.  I just cut a slit in the middle for the umbrella.  I have even washed them and the slit held up just fine.

I made a homemade strawberry lemonade from my Pinterest board. It wasn’t too hard, but would I do it again?  Maybe.  It didn’t knock my socks off, but it was refreshing.

Then as far as food goes I only did a couple of fun things. I cut my watermelon slices into stars with a cookie cutter

and made patriotic deviled eggs {insert lol}

I saw them on Pinterest of course and I had to try it out.  Honestly, I didn’t like them.  Well the colored ones are the ones I didn’t like, you could taste the vinegar used to color the egg white.

The best part of 4th of July are the desserts my sister brings.  Man that girl can bake!  I always put the desserts on a separate table with my DIY window sign “Sweet Liberty”  that I made last year. Get it?  “Sweet” as in desserts?

The only thing I “made” were the star cookies.  {me and Costco hehe}  Everything else was made by my sister.  The cherry pie {which my husband loves and could not wait for me to take a picture before he stole a slice of it}

The TO DIE FOR patriotic cake.  I MEAN to DIE FOR.  And I am not a cake lover

It was so stinkin good!  Here, look at it up close

It was even better than it looks.  Then can we talk about the turnovers?  OMG  I could of ate them all.  Seriously, she out did herself this year.

Homemade people.  Not Costco {although there is nothing wrong with Costco, they are my other baker in the family} And she brought two more things!  Patriotic dipped strawberries

and these Patriotic jello squares

Is she the best sister or what?  I get to do all the fun decorating, and throw some hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill, and then go dive into the dessert table.  All thanks to her.

And just for fun, I am going to show off my grandson Hudson sporting his patriotic spirit. {This guy is always smiling, such a happy baby he is!}
