First of all, I want to thank you guys so much for voting for my entry in the Apartment Therapy Color contest! The voting continues until November 21st, so if you didn’t get a chance to vote you can go here, to “fav” my entry. There are still a lot of votes to get. My daughters, Shannon, Tara and Tiffany have really worked hard on getting their friends, co-workers and who ever else they can think of to vote for me. It is so sweet, they really want their mom to win. Just melts my heart. ...continue to full post

I keep forgetting today is Halloween. I don’t have any young children at home and we don’t get trick or treaters at my house, so the holiday just gets forgotten around here. I miss seeing all the fun costumes and the little kids all excited for the fun day. I am looking forward to when my grandson Carter is old enough and I can enjoy the holiday again.
But since it is Halloween, I thought I could get away with doing a posting of creepy creatures. I don’t know what makes your skin crawl, but mine is snakes and mice. They give me the willies. Being that we live on a hill surrounded by open space, those two creatures are frequent around here, and it creeps me out. ...continue to full post

I got my beeswax candle sleeves! I was so darn excited to open up the package, I couldn’t wait to put them on my chandelier. But honestly, I was a little let down when I actually saw them. I think that in my head I was imagining them to be thicker and the drips more prominently noticeable. But I still like them, and they are 100% better than the plastic sleeves with tacky UL tags

My chandelier after

Notice a difference? Yeah, it isn’t that much of a difference unless you get really close ...continue to full post

I was so excited when I when I got to this estate sale and this side chair was still there. And lucky me, it was 1/2. I scored it for $10

Just to give you an idea of how popular this style of chair is and what it sells for
Horchow has a pair of these identical chairs for $699
Which actually seems like a good deal compared to Jonathan Adler chair at $695 for just one
Of course neither compares to my price of $10 LOL ...continue to full post

First of all, today has been a fun day for this little blog. I am excited to have Shannon and Nate’s kitchen featured on Remodelaholic today. Woohoo! I love Cassity’s blog, if you have never been to her site it is a must read. Check out her revamp of a hutch that you will not believe the before to the after. It is a must see.
Then Melissa, from Made in the South listed me as one of her “Fabulous Friday Four” blogs today. Wow, that was a huge surprise and such an honor. Just to think that someone other than my family likes my blog always floors me! Go check out the other bloggers she listed today, you won’t be disappointed. {I already pinned a lot of their stuff lol} ...continue to full post

I LOVE looking at beautiful designed rooms. I spend hours everyday looking on Pinterest, Houzz, tons of blogs and e- magazines that have rooms that are so beautiful I just want to jump into my monitor and live there.

But the truth is, it isn’t really real. I mean real as in real life. There are no toys laying around, dishes in the sink, clothes on the floor, mailed piled up on the counter, you know, how life really is?

I must start off with a confession. I stupidly volunteered to re-upholstered these bergere chairs. I was naive, to say the least, thinking I could easily re-upholster these type of chairs. I had no idea what it really entailed. I can tell you now, it was way beyond my upholstery skills. But as my sister tells me, I am tenacious and that is what forces me to finish things. I just want to say, hats off to all of you who can do this effortlessly and even give a tutorial! ...continue to full post

I finally have the dresser done for the nursery. Of course I have to give all the credit to Marian of Miss Mustard Seed. I had recently emailed her with some pictures and asked if she knew any tricks to get out water stains and scratches. Well of course she did! And you won’t believe what it was…oil and vinegar. What you say? Oil and vinegar? Yep, and it worked like a charm, that woman is amazing.
Here is the dresser as it was given to us, it is beautiful piece, but just needed some TLC to bring it back to life. I love the fret work on the front and the curvy sides.
