I just discovered Olioboard {like I need another thing to distract me after discovering Pinterest!}

Olioboard is a site where you create interior design mood boards. It is a great tool for anyone who wants to redecorate a room. You can see how it will look and what you might want to change before you actually buy the pieces or re-do the room. I love how it is user friendly, you can crop, re-size pictures, and move things around super easily. You can choose furniture, lighting and accessories from their library or add the clipper to your browser to save items from any website directly to your own library. It records the price and the place where to get it too so you can shop for it later. I have even taken pictures of stuff I already have that I know are going to be in the room and uploaded them to Olioboard. That way you get a true feel of the finished room with the stuff that is actually going to be in there. If you are thinking about re-doing a room, now or in the future, you should try it. I tell ya, you will get hooked like I have.

The room I am working on right now is a bedroom at our river house

When I first designed this room my girls were much younger, I made it very girly and fitting for their age. But now, they are all grown up, and they bring out their friends which now include couples. I feel bad when I see the men cringing as they are getting into a decked out floral bed. So it is time to update it to a more unisex bedroom.

Here is my mood board that I did on Olioboard. I am shooting for an industrial/rustic with a hint of Hollywood glamor look.

Ok, it still has some girly features to it, but a little more subdued As you can see, the color scheme is grey, mustard and lavender. I actually have all the items that are on this mood board with the exception of the side table. It is from Ikea, but I don’t think they sell in the U.S. yet. I might just use that color on the existing side tables that are in there already, or even a mustard color, can’t decide just yet.

The scribble lines on that white rectangle is actually a fabric I am going to use for the curtains. The scribble lines are random written numbers in black against a white fabric. Here is a better picture of it, the fabric is from Ikea

I want to hang them like Show & Tell did on her drapes..such a cool idea!

I am going to incorporate more typography into the room as artwork, so this fabric ties in that element.

I am debating about the lighting. I want to try and use the chandeliers that I already have. I was going to start with taking off the individual shades and then put one big grey drum shade around the chandelier. If I don’t like that look, I would use this pendant instead from Overstock

I plan on using really dark grey color on the window wall. Been dying to do a really dark wall somewhere! These pendants would just POP against the dark grey. Here is my board with the different lighting.

Love this look too! But that is what is great about Olioboard, you can create all different kinds of look so easily and see if you like it or not. You would think I was getting paid or compensated for bragging up this site but I am not. I used to have to do these by hand for clients and lots of them for interior design classes when I was in college. Let me tell you, this is a WAY easier and faster than what I had to do! I would love to hear if you too use Olioboard or if you try it out. I know I am hooked!
