F U N progress on the bedroom
Last week I started the process of redoing one of the bedrooms at our river house. I had previously done this Olioboard for the room for my inspiration
So I took advantage of some down time, drove the three hours out there to start to tackling this room. Usually when I go out there by myself, I take advantage of the quietness and the mild weather and just relax. Even though I had this beautiful view tempting me, I stayed focused on the work to be done

A Hollywood sign finds a home
I have been procrastinating big time on this project. At least 3 years…or more.
It all started when I decided I did not like the flow of this bedroom at our river house. Even though I had drawn the furniture and lighting plan on paper during construction, once I got everything in the room it just felt off. So I physically moved things around until it felt right. Which totally screwed up my well thought out electrical plan, but at least the room felt more balanced now.

I really wanted to somehow incorporate the look at our river house. And then an idea hit me on how I could use oars as decoration and also make them functional
When we have a big group of people out at the river, there is never a good spot to put all the wet beach towels. When I saw these oars at my friends booth at an antique mall, I thought maybe I could find a way to use them to hang the towels, so I bought them.
My Juju hat is finally up
I finally got to hang my Juju hat at our river house in the Master Bedroom. These metal flowers with the spiked edges were probably not the best choice to put above a bed. One big earthquake and bamb! When I feel in love with the Juju hat, I knew where I was going to put it.
This room sucks up the light so the pictures don’t do it justice. But it looks AWESOME! I love it even more!
I feel confident if this Juju hat was to fall in an earthquake I might just survive.
Before and After River House Part 2

Now that we had the structural columns in place, it was time to pick the finishes . 
I figured by adding depth and texture to the outside it would take the focus away from the jut outs of the columns. So I chose to use stacked stone partially up the sides and then finish the rest with siding.
On the covered patios, we had tongue and groove knotty pine installed with a high gloss finish for the ceilings.
Before and After-River House Part 1
We all love, well at least I know I do, a good before and after. So I decided to a series of posts of my all time favorite before and after, our river house. It is pretty amazing to see how a little shack became a home. It was a huge undertaking and is something I can’t do in one post. So I thought I would post it in sections so you can really enjoy the transformation. So check back often to see the progress.
