If you have never seen Marian’s blog, MissMustardSeed, you are in for a wonderful surprise. She is such a talented designer of furniture and beautiful handmade accessories and decorations. She writes the most informative posts, shares her real self, good or bad and just draws you in to her wonderful personality. She is so inspiring, her blog is one of my favorite daily reads.

I had been drooling over this dresser on Marian’s blog. So one day I decided to email her and tell her that I would love to buy the dresser if she ever wanted to part with it. I was so surprised when she emailed me back and said it was for sale. Yahoo! But dang, I live in CA and she lives in PA. Shipping it here could get expensive. But the thrifty shopper that Marian is, she came up with a very reasonable way to get it to me. Greyhound! Well, ok I am up for that! She wrapped it up in tons of cardboard and plastic wrap and drove a long way to the Greyhound station to send it to me in Cailfornia. It took a week, but it came in perfect condition, and it was even more beautiful in person. I had a perfect spot where I wanted to put it, in our guest house in one of the bedrooms. The problem was, my daughter and her husband were staying in our guest house while they were looking for a home to buy. There was no room for the dresser until they moved out. So, for the time being, the only holding spot I had was in my office. It was so beautiful in my office, but it was a tad too long for the wall, otherwise I would of kept it in there. This was all the way back in July I when I bought it.

Since my daughter and her husband recently moved into their new house, I knew it was time for the dresser to leave my office (I actually had been using it as my expression machine cutting center..sigh…I going to miss that) but was excited to move it into the guest house and see how it looked. In this bedroom I have never liked the floral fabric that was used. I was desperate to play down the fabric on the bedskirts and on the window covering. The fabric choice was not mine, and I have never, ever liked it. But I live with it because the window covering is motorized and it would be expensive to change it out. I just can’t justify the expense in my head. So my goal is to make that fabric secondary in the room. I took out the drape table that was in between the beds, which of course was covered in the floral fabric, and put in it’s place the beautiful sheet music dresser. Already it was a huge difference! I had some red pillows and throws, so I used them on the beds to distract from the remaining floral fabric in the room.

Doesn’t she just look so pretty in there!

I used some of my thrift shop and estate sale finds to accessories the dresser. I already had the mirror (estate sale) and the art work in the room. It is amazing how the black music notes on the sheet music compliment the room so nicely. As if it was planned! This dresser was meant for me I am certain of it. Then to top it off, Marian was so kind to do a post about it on her blog, I can not tell you how honored I am that she did that. It had been 5 months since I bought it, and I thought it was only fitting to show her pictures how it beautiful it looked in my home. I mean, come on, this dresser is famous! You can check out her post here and see more pictures. (oh and if you see anything you like that she posts about on her blog, ask, it probably is for sale!) I think I am one lucky gal to of gotten this dresser, thank you Marian.
