<p>I thought I would try my hand at what I just recently discovered  to be called &#8220;altered art&#8221;.  I saw this cool idea over at <a href="http://www.decorchick.com/decorating/pretty-book-decor-a-ballard-knock-off/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Decorchick+%28Decorchick!%29&amp;utm_content=Google+Reader" target="_blank">Decor Chick&#8217;s blog</a> and I couldn&#8217;t wait to try it!    I had just purchased 15 books for $15 and hadn&#8217;t decided what I wanted to to with them yet, so her idea was a perfect solution, plus I already had that stamp she used.   I followed her instructions but added my own little touch.   I decided to wrap the books with this beautiful hand stamped ribbon that I got from <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/homesteadtreasures">Hand Stamped Treasures</a>, and then loosely laid a previously altered art necklace I had around the ribbon to top it off.  I love how it turned out.  Oh, and yes, those are salt and pepper shakers, I figured it goes along with the altered art theme right?<a href="http://cre8tivedesignsinc.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/DSC_0088.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-914" title="Altered frame insert" src="http://cre8tivedesignsinc.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/DSC_0088-470x701.jpg" alt="" width="470" height="701" /></a><a href="http://cre8tivedesignsinc.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/DSC_0083.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-924" title="DSC_0083" src="http://cre8tivedesignsinc.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/DSC_0083-470x701.jpg" alt="" width="470" height="701" /></a></p>
<p>This was my second &#8220;altered art&#8221; piece.  It was a nice frame I bought at a flea market but it had no picture insert.  I took a piece of sheet music and cardboard and cut it out to fit the frame, and squirted it with that scrap-booking glitter spray stuff, to give it more of antiqued look.  I attached the crown in the middle and added crystal chain around the edging of the frame.  I kinda think it needs more altering, but for now it suits me fine.  It is fun to think outside the box, pulling together unusual items to dress up something so plain!</p>
<p><a href="http://cre8tivedesignsinc.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/DSC_0062_2.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-919" title="Bath towel basket" src="http://cre8tivedesignsinc.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/DSC_0062_2-470x309.jpg" alt="" width="470" height="309" /></a><a href="http://cre8tivedesignsinc.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/DSC_0071.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-918" title="Bath towel basket" src="http://cre8tivedesignsinc.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/DSC_0071-470x314.jpg" alt="" width="470" height="314" /></a>Now this is just a fun find I got at the <a href="http://urbanbarn155.blogspot.com/">Urban Barn</a> grand opening on Friday.  The old rusty basket is lined with canvas fabric, which is striking in itself.  But I am ruffle kind of girl, and I just felt it needed a little something more.  So right across from this vendor I saw these big beautiful fabric rosettes.  just what I was looking for.  I attached it to the front, and the basket just came to life!  Ahhh, just what it needed to go next to my ruffle pillow.</p>
<p>What are you going to alter into art?</p>
