Thanksgiving table all set

Thanksgiving table all set

By Stephanie on November 22, 2011

Update:  I figured out what time the finals for  Apartment Therapy Color Contest ends. It ends on  November 23rd at 3:00 eastern time.  I am in second place, and it is a close competition.  Thank you to all who have voted for me, I really appreciate it!  It has been a roller coaster ride for sure.  Here is the link in case you  need to cast your vote or want to see the other rooms I am competing against. **contest is now over, and I took second overall and first in my region.  Pretty darn happy about that!

I am as done as I am going to be with my Thanksgiving table and decorations.  Do I dare say that I am ready to haul out the Christmas stuff?  I really have enjoyed all my fall decorations but I am ready for some red and green!

My sister and her family are coming over for Thanksgiving.  We are a pretty informal bunch, but I just love decorating for a holiday, so I tend to go a tad over board.  I thought I would share the pictures before I forgot and Thanksgiving has come and gone.  {Warning, lots of pictures}

I love these little beeswax pumpkin candles I got off of Etsy here. I found the tray at Ikea in the Christmas section, it resembles nothing close to Christmas, so I will be using it year round.    I love trays for clustering items on tables, dressers, buffets, and anywhere else I can get away with it.  ...continue to full post

Pumpkin stamping

Pumpkin stamping

By Stephanie on November 6, 2011

I got these small pumpkins at the farmers market for my Thanksgiving table.  I had planned on cutting the tops off and putting fresh flowers in them.  Once I put them on the table, I liked the way they look without the flowers.

Today, just for the heck of it, I wanted to see if I could stamp something on the front to spruce them up a bit, and it worked!

It isn’t perfect, but I like them none the less.  I just used a regular scrapbooking stamp with a java brown chalk ink pad.  I was able to wipe it off right away if I messed up. A very simple and easy project.  If I was really ambitious, I would stamp each person’s name on them as well!  Hmmm…I might try that with a bronze or gold metallic ink, that would be fun!

My Thanksgiving table is coming together. I am not done, but luckily for me, I am using my formal dining room, so I can put the table setting together at my own pace.   It’s nice because I don’t feel rushed to get it done, I do a little here and there.

Michelle, from Sweet Something Design had posted about the leaf plates she got at Wal-mart. So I went and picked some up the other day.  A fun and inexpensive way to add some fall to the place setting.  $2.98 each if you want to get some for your table.   I moved my pinterest inspiration vanilla/coffee candles to the table as well.  Who knows what my table will actually end up looking like come Thanksgiving day, but the little stamping project is my favorite so far.

I am not Fall-ing behind this year

I am not Fall-ing behind this year

By Stephanie on October 6, 2011

I set my goal to get my fall stuff out early this year.  Christmas comes too fast, and it always seems that I just get my fall stuff up and the next week it is time to take it down.  I accomplished my goal and now get to enjoy my fall decorations for a good two months

I used most of what I already had.  I did buy some fall flowers for my urns and some realistic apples from Wal-mart to put in my apple basketBushel basket for apples

Since my front doors are so large, I added some height with an old chair for the scarecrow

On the other side of my front door I used  a step stool that my daughter Tara no longer needed for her old bed

I love the texture of these pumpkins I put in the basket and the punch of orange from the real pumpkin {$3.38 at Wal-mart!}

Now I can just sit back and enjoy fall.  Feels good to be ahead of the game for once.

Have you started any fall decorating at your house?
