We have family coming to stay with us and I thought I would spruce up the bathrooms a little bit with some fun spa like ammentities for them. I painted this $1 train case on a whim with my paint sprayer awhile back.

I needed to use up some paint in the sprayer and just looked around for something to paint and this was the first thing I saw. It was an ugly orange-yellow color so I thought why not? Then when I was looking for something to put the goodies in for the bathroom and couldn’t find anything, I remembered my train case! The nice part is that it has feet on it, so if the tub area was to get wet, it wouldn’t sit in water and rot the bottom out. It did need a little something, so I made the flower out of left over material I had and hot glued it on. The great thing about this little set up is that I pretty much shopped my house. I have three grown girls, so they had plenty of brand new items sitting under their bathroom cabinets unused and unnoticed that I “borrowed” them to put in the train case. I used a dry eraser to write on the mirror, pretty lame writing, but it is the thought that counts right?

These cute little crystal bowls I found at the thrift shop. I didn’t want to go the regular route and buy the off the shelf cotton ball and q-tip holders. Plus this was way cheaper and I think more elegant looking.

This bathroom is for the younger girls. I just shopped my house for the basket to hold the new Restoration Towels I just bought on sale. I even had the ducks left over from a party that I had used for decorations, gotta love it! Gave all the girls their own shower gels, bath bubbles and lotions and put them on a mirrored tray I already had. It has been fun to shop my house and hopefully make my guests feel a little special.

{these are bathrooms, so taking pictures is very, very challenging for lighting. so please excuse the poor quality pictures}

I saw two of the cutest train cases at a flea market that were painted white and wrapped in burlap and lace . They were just stunning! I came so close to buying them, but they were a little too big for where I wanted to put them. This weekend, I attempted to recreate what I feel in love with. But I couldn’t bring myself to paint this cool teal color of my train case, so I left it as it was. I opted not to do the burlap but just the lace. I still love the other one I saw, and I might buy it if I see it again, but for now this little cutie resides by my garden.

I purchased the train case off of ebay, $15, and the garden tools at an estate sale for $1. I dressed up the tools with fabric and a little bit of antiquing spray to give them a vintage look. All the rest of the accessories I already had laying around in my stash.

Since I was on a roll sprucing up my garden space, I also re-purposed this silver platter I found at the thrift shop into a sign for my garden. I taped off the outside of the tray and painted the middle with chalkboard paint.

If you are wondering about all the green plastic netting…well where I live we call it “wild kingdom”. Rabbits, squirrels, raccoons, gophers, birds, and deer all want to feast on my garden, the green plastic netting helps to keep the critters out. Which by the way isn’t 100% full proof, they have chewed through it, dug underneath it, whatever they can do to get in and feast. It is an on going battle that they seem to be winning.
