Video on how to make a tailored valance

I thought it would be helpful to make a video on how I made the tailored valance along with the step by step instructions I did.  It is really hard for me not to gush about this video that Brady {my nephew and assistant} did because I am his Aunt.  But I think he did a pretty awesome job!   It was our first video, and it was a learning process for both of us.  {after watching it, I think I need to get some botox injected into my wrinkly hands, or use one of my daughters for the video}

We used my Nikon camera to do the stills and the video.  It was so convenient and easy to toggle back and forth from still to video with a push of a button.  We didn’t have to set up two different cameras, which makes it so much easier and faster.  Hopefully with the step by step tutorial along with this video, I have covered all bases for anyone to make their own tailored valance.

Step by step directions found here.  I used Calico Corners Plataue fabric for the valance, found here

I would love to know what you think of the video.  Is the step by step tutorial and video helpful, or should I just give up my acting career and stick to written instructions only?

  1. Wow, great job!  I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I loved how it was silent with titles and fast.  I think it’s always great to have both – so you can see and read what to do.  Loved it.  And, congrats on the Calico Corners feature!!

  2. I loved it!!  Great job to you both.  I appreciate all the hard work that goes into that…  I’ve tried only one, and couldn’t stop laughing!  (It’s currently tucked away in the “bloopers” file!)

  3. great video Stephanie!  I am so visual, so I think the video is the way to go for sure!  (rather have YOU narrate it) hahahah

    congrats on the calico corners thingy!  wooohooo!

  4. WOA–way to go Brady and Aunt Steph! I am such a visual person, so I really prefer video over step by step written instructions.  Very professional and you made this look easy enough where I may even try to attempt this 🙂

  5. This is fantastic!!! I’m going to attempt it!

  6. Just put up blinds in my kitchen, and was hoping to soften the look with a fabric valance. Read your tutorial first, but still had questions especially regarding the fold. Then watched the video & my questions were answered. Thank you.
